Schaumburg, IL, June 18, 2024 – CLOOS North America, a subsidiary of CLOOS Group, a leading provider of welding and automation equipment, today opened its new, North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. The state-of-the-art facility, set on three-acres, represents an investment of more than $15.0 million as CLOOS grows its presence in North America in response to increased demand for pre-engineered and custom robotic welding solutions. Over the next five years, the company projects two out of every three CLOOS welding systems sold will be manufactured, assembled, and tested in North America.
Since 1985, CLOOS has steadily increased sales in North America, making the U.S. its second-largest market after its home base in Germany.
“Our expanded headquarters reinforces our commitment to providing advanced welding automation solutions to North America,” said Doug Zoller, President of CLOOS North America. “The new facility will allow us to provide greater supply security and shorter lead times to customers.”
The more than 45,000-square-foot facility triples the company’s production space for the manufacture and assembly of welding automation cells and systems. The production area features new hoist and bridge crane equipment covering four production cells. The expanded manufacturing capacity will significantly reduce lead times for automated robotic welding solutions.
CLOOS ready-to-weld cobot and configured cells are easy to implement and operate, fully turnkey and configurable for the application, providing users innovative solutions for welding automation.
Lead times for solution component parts will be minimized due to a $3 million on-site inventory. Wear and spare part lead times will also decrease with more than $2 million of stocked parts. An advanced VLM (Vertical Lift Module) and Heavy-duty Racking System increase capacity to store parts inhouse.
“Automated manufacturing is key is staying competitive on a global scale,” said Adam Moore, Business Development manager for CLOOS North America. “The Experience Center gives us the ability to show our latest, most advanced welding automation technology and complete systems, and offer a dedicated facility for continued training.”
The facility also features increased office space for a fast-growing US-based team.
CLOOS is continually expanding to accommodate dynamic annual growth. The company plans to more than double its headcount over the next five years. CLOOS North America currently employs 44 in North America and is expected to grow to more than 100 employees.
The new headquarters for CLOOS North America is strategically located in a key region for the sheet metal processing industry and is a short distance from the Chicago O’Hare International Airport for easy access.
