Since 1985, CLOOS North America has been providing customized automated welding solutions throughout North America as a subsidiary of Carl Cloos Schweisstechnik GmbH, Haiger, Germany, founded in 1919 and represented in 40 countries.
CLOOS pioneered tandem wire welding and has more than 100 years of innovation history. In North America, we continue to advance the CLOOS legacy, delivering high-quality welding equipment and systems backed by a global organization.

1919
CLOOS is founded
Engineer Carl Cloos establishes Carl Cloos Schweisstechnik and begins manufacturing gas generators.
1956
MAG welding debuts at the Hannover Fair
CLOOS introduces the first controllable welding power source with continuous welding wire.
1968
Pulse welding power source
Development and production of the first pulsed arc welding machines - a significant step toward automation.
1978
Introduction of robotic welding
The first use of robot technology for gas-shielded arc welding.
CLOOS starts building and producing industrial robots, and the ROMAT brand is born.
1985
CLOOS USA is established
Sales activities expand from the Schaumburg location.
